Small daily habits for the winter months
It’s not winter yet, but the days are getting colder and shorter. In this article, we will talk about five small daily habits that you can introduce to your day to day life that will help to feel better in the next months.
Get a vitamin D supplement
Vitamin D is essential for our wellbeing. It has all kinds of benefits: it supports the immune system and is essential for bones, teeth and muscles. Our bodies produce vitamin D when we get exposed to sunlight. But during the winter it is quite difficult, since days get darker. Vitamin D deficiency is’nt something you want to underestimate (we wrote a blog post about vitamin D deficiency a while ago – check it out!). This time of year, a small daily habit for winter is surely to start taking a vitamin D supplement.
Wash your hands when you get home
This is a must to minimise the risk to catch an illness in the winter. Everyone knows how easy it is to get a runny nose or feel ill during the winter months. Viruses and bacteria survive longer outside of our bodies when it’s cold. If you need to take public transport or visit plenty of public spaces, we advise to wash your hands right after you get back home – so you can get rid of all the nasty bacteria on your hands. You can also bring a hand sanitizer in your purse or pocket so you can wash your hands anywhere!
